You are right-on about the Virus's Reverb--and I am pretty picky about reverb as I think it's not only an essential "effect" but also since it's a basic, natural, ambience that's part of the fundamental 'natural' physics of sound that at least to me, it's very easy to pick-out a rather bad sounding reverb. You are right that MANY on-board synths, even some really great ones, have rather crap for reverb, with the Virus really doing it right. Will admit that am a sucker for creative use of Phaser as well; stress the CREATIVE; as it can be made to work in an "LFO-like-Filter-Sweep" when stuck working on a synth that does not have dual/serial/parallel configurable filters.
Not that I am of the belief that the Virus is totally co-dependant upon it's effects; holwever, on the Virus, kind of consider the effects just as much a block of tools in sound design as important as a fourth or fifth free envelope!
