I have also noticed similar in one Cubase 5 project under Vista. The GUI suddenly no longer pops up at all when I hit an 'edit instrument' button. Had to launch a new project to get it back...

I actually fixed this problem by buying a new computer! Yes, I know not the best way to handle it... But I do believe it was a memory issue. I spent a couple days swapping e-mails with Access tech support and this is what they told me. I didn't want to believe it... but I do now.

How much RAM are you guys running?

I solved my GUI problem ...
I was using dual screens and by changing my monitor setup back to one screen seems to work, im not sure if that is due to ram or bad drivers or c++. but its a temporary fix for now

I have 2 Gb. My Cubase 5 projects are not massive though. And in fact I've noticed now that other pop-ups e.g. effect editing windows are also failing to be visible on occasion even when VC is not even running. I have this notion that they have popped up somewhere, only not on any visible part of my 15" laptop screen.

A new computer may be the solution chez Suzzy too. For a start I need a 7200 rpm HDD to run a decent piano program. Still, I'd like to get to the bottom of the case of the disappearing GUI/pop-up.

Do you still see the outline of the GUI though? That was happening to me, too. Other plug-in GUI's wouldn't load either. I was running 2GB on a laptop as well... FYI.

I just reinstalled latest Cubase 5.5.3 download (should have done that ages ago - duh) and for the moment everything seems to be behaving itself
