Yes, in the same sentence! I have had no show stoppers for me. You can now save multis. For crying out loud, it's so cheap I dunno what all the fuss is about. I bought it for the synth engine, not whether I can remote control it from a starship, make tea! Agreed the encoders aren't great, but they are no worse than my JP8080's sandpaper response. It's never hung, crashed played random notes, suffered midi timing issues, removed envelope shapes when playing and a number of other things my TI has done.

It isn't in the same class as a Snow, if I had to choose I would chose a Blofeld over a Snow any day. But then I have a TI

I would choose a 'Snow' over a 'Blofeld' I admit, I haven't spent much time with the Blofeld yet, but Waldorf needs to atleast get a VSTi editor (which looks like Largo)
My only complaint is that, the presets sound raw (treble harsh), not polished compared to my GT and TI.

The sound of the Blo is very raw and can be harsh I agree. But that's what I like. The presets are so so, but I've been busy programming!

Yeah, I have to admit that programing it was so easy and intuitive.
The amount of modulation available is mind boggling.

Many of my issues were with the Multi mode. But, I did have random "events" happening in patch mode too.

For those of you that have used both, is the Snow as easy to program as the Blofeld? The mod. matrix of the Blofeld is what I found to be so easy to deal with. I thought I read somewhere there's a matrix in the Snow too. Is it similar to deal with ??

TIA
M

Easier: the Total Integration (using the VST plugin interface) is absolutely the sweetest, easiest sound programming experience I've ever had with any hardware synth.

Blair,

Good post RE public beta. If the 1.11/12 versions of the Blofeld were released as beta I probably would have been more patient. However, even with the current updates on it my experiences were the same a Chicago's in that I found it unusable.

I had to chuckle at Totty's response,
"It's never hung, crashed played random notes, suffered midi timing issues, removed envelope shapes when playing and a number of other things ..."

Upon first reading that I thought he was refering to a Blofeld; those were the same exact issues I was having. The I realized he was referencing a TI!

I am going to hold off on updating the Snow when it arrives. Once 3.0 is solid I'll upgrade then.

Thanks for the comments.

M

Guess I must just be lucky with my Blofeld and yes I have programmed it extensively and sequenced it. The only thing I haven't done is use Multimode, maybe thats where problems come in. To clarify, I would not choose a Blofeld over a Virus TI, but having a TI i would of course rather a Blofeld over a Snow. I don't think my post made that clear really as it was from my personal POV Soz about that.

They are very different machines and I'm glad to have both.
