But, I got 3/4 of the money needed for a virus ti desktop from the insurance payout, so it worked out in my favour really. I do miss the thing in a way, it was a nord 3, and was very futuristic looking with all the lights. The 'infinity' dials or whatever they're called are also really helpful as they show you exactly what positions the dials are set to for each seperate sound with LED's. the layout seems more simple than the virus, and is nice to work with. But really i much prefer the virus overall

Yep, if I had a big chunk of change I would mod a Virus Ti to have the Infinity LED knobs of the NL3, BUT, my LEDs would be green. Muhahaaaa!!!
The guy who stole your board will burn in G.A.S. hell. Stealing a synthesizer is the crime of a filthy pig. I hope the thief lays with a disease ridden prostitute.

I think the perception of whether a synth is good or not depends on whether you've seen it being used in professional context

All synths sound shit if you cant play them live, cant sequence them properly or pick the wrong sound for the style of playing.

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....

I own both a VirusC and NL2, and I like the sound of the Nord over the Virus for most things.
The good....
NL2: Very cool bass sound, plus the lead sounds can cut thorugh just about anything. Notch filter is great, and the way synced sounds can scream I love. Very hands on synth in terms of programming and playing.
VC: Nice pads, good saturation stage. Filters are sooo nice sounding when compared to pretty much any VA out there. Like some of the FX.
The bad....
NL2: No inputs (this fucks me off). Getting a lot of movement happening automatically isn't the easiest as the LFOs aren't overly flash. No aftertouch on the original NL2 (not sure about the 2x).
VC: Needs FX. Bass end just doesn't have it. Programming it can take a bit of time, although once your head is into it it's not bad.
I think really it's personal taste. If you want a synth that does everything, I'd say go for the Virus. But if you want a synth, that does a few things well, then go for the Nord.
If it weren't for the filters, the VC definitely would have sold already, but the price I'd get it for makes me hang on and use it mainly as a filter box. The Nord I will never get rid of.
