Hi there, I don't specifically have a TI (only a Virus Indigo) but I believe you can install it on top of the previous version. At least that's how computer BIOS updates work that use flash-ROM.

Hi Shambler, I seem to remember Marc saying that it only updates the OS after it's loaded it into memory and carried out lots of checks on it to see if it's legit, before flashing the ROM.

Best contact Access Support though: http://access-music.de/contactus.php4

Hope you get it sorted.

shambler, I had the same problem. I put it in update mode manually and this fixed it.

you need to first unplug the TI then plug it back in whilst holding the 'Exit' button. This puts the TI in to Bios Update mode (USB). You can then connect in this mode direct to your computer with the USB and run the Firmware update. When its done your virus will reboot with the new os installed.

Just had an email from Access suggesting the same thing.

Unfortunately it hasn't made a difference, still just sits there at the switching to update mode step.

I had hell installing it...as I usually do with all the updates... got a BSOD right after the reconnect of the USB... still not at the update firmware state... came back and my system was seriously in trouble... mother board didnt see any CD drives...or USB ports at bios... no keyboard mouse... no PCI bus so no RME card... you name it... total disaster... I unplugged everything and it still didnt work... connected a PS2 keyboard and mouse... got it to boot up and then after the next reboot everything went back to normal... kept everything dissconnected USB or whatnot, and reattempted the 2.7 install..(scared as hell..LOLOL) finally went thru... the firmware patching takes forever...be paitient... once it was done, it was all back to normal... Weeeeuufff...

so Id say

remember to have all devices disconnected from USB...only minimal...
then install...

its well worth it though...I havent stopped using Atomizer since yesterday...

Default in case of getting a bluescreen whilst install ...

the installer uninstalls the old version of the driver by itself.

in case you should get a bluescreen while install (like it happend here),
windows will prompt for the drivers once it has rebooted ...

-> you have to locate the files in:
... Program Files\Access Music\Virus TI\Audiodriver

-> and then click the installer again and choose *repair*
(in order to update the firmware of the virus)

i think the bluscreen is coming from the uninstall of a driver,
which my soundcard uses, too ... called sysaudio.sys

had to re-install my soundcard driver, since it was broken.

Just an update.

I have now managed to get the 2.7 OS installed!

Not with Vista though

I put a second hard drive in my PC and installed XP Professional, now the update installs without any problems, same USB lead and port as before.

As I feared it looks like another Vista quirk.

Incidentally now the PC doesn't crash with XP when the Virus is turned off like Vista did.

I think I will now use XP for Cubase and my music production and boot with Vista for games etc.
