there is a bridge a few blocks away from me called the Congress Street bridge. About 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats live under there for about 6 months out of the year and fly out every night at dusk. It's a very cool thing to see. Here is a pic of it -

Jesus!!! Doc, do you still live in Austin? If so, how far away is the Congress Street Bridge from the intersection of Garden & Waller (off I-35W, near the Holiday Inn)? My cousin used to live in a house on that intersection. Thanks for posting that, it's cool as all get out!

I used to hunt bats but I never acctually caught one. I once had a hedgehog though, that's gotta count for something! Right?

Nice pictures in the thread I might add.

If you wanna catch bats, version 7 of Sonar is shipping. I'm sure it supports 64 bat processing or something.

I believe in South America and some places in far east the bats are considered great delicacies.

This has to be the most banal story ever. "I used to hunt huge tigers, but I never actually caught one. I once caught a flu though!"

hey alex, yeah, I'm still here in Austin. I think this may be the place where I am going to settle down (and probably buy a house next year). The Congress bridge is about 3 blocks west of that intersection, so I am sure your cousin must have seen them at some point. Does your cousing still live in Austin?
