Well I have made the switch at work to Ubuntu now, using open office etc. I have Ubutuntu on this computer as well, but I don't use it as much as the software I need at home is for XP.
One thing is for certain though....
More supoort for Ubuntu and Vista is in trouble. Ubuntu is really a nice, safe OS to use!
Take a look at this for more MS blues.

Dunno if I would make the switch to mac though....

I should try out Ubuntu. Fedora Core 5 is the only Linux version I've used and every second I used that OS I wanted to kill people and other living beings.
Kids, if you think you're using a crappy OS, try out Fedora Core. It'll blow your mind. After a test drive even consuming poo sounds more appealing than using Fedora Core. "I think I'll check my e-mail..." *after ten hours of configuring* "Ok. So now I got the program running. Now just some account tweaking..."

I think it is a matter of how you want to approach your computer. If you like to install things, make things work together and have a challange on your hand, you are perfectly fine with a PC. If you just want to switch it on and work with it, you need a Mac. It is just that easy.

I feel a little sorry for you here, when all what you can show for with your manly hood is fixing your PC to make it run as intended (if this is even possible).
