you should be able to go into your bios without affecting any warranties.
It's your bios  In there you can at the very least see what resources your usb ports are using and what else is sharing those resource (ie audio card, nic, other usb ports, parallel port etc.) Beyond overclocking, most of the optimizations they would be doing would be at the os level (and what optimazations to apply really depends on what you would be using the computer for - ie just audio work, audio and internet connectivity etc.)

How do you get into the bios? During start up? F2? Or is it in the OS itself?

It seems fixed! I changed the USB cable to a shorter one that came with my Evolution mk-425c midicontroller which I used earlier.
Weird though, as the original TI cable worked on my old computer.. Thx for all help! regards, KC
