you should be able to go into your bios without affecting any warranties.
It's your bios
In there you can at the very least see what resources your usb ports are using and what else is sharing those resource (ie audio card, nic, other usb ports, parallel port etc.)
Beyond overclocking, most of the optimizations they would be doing would be at the os level (and what optimazations to apply really depends on what you would be using the computer for - ie just audio work, audio and internet connectivity etc.)
