Yes Drammy - in vB Paid Subscriptions can be set however you wish.. mandatory or voluntary. Usually though, for those people who voluntarily subscribe, one adds additional privileges such as additional PM's, access to otherwise restricted areas, fewer signature controls, 'Supporter' badges etc.

At the moment it costs about ?200 a year. But I am looking into theMusicMan's suggestions in order to reduce the cost.
