I was wondering about the Drumstation........never got to play with one.........I've read that it's a pretty convincing emulation to the 808/909 thou.

Indeed it has.. But _never_ buy a v.1 with the low polyphony. It just cuts notes here and there so I sold mine

I have a close friend that ownes a 808 and a 909 and he manages the high tech department of the largest musical instrument chain stores in the country. When I told him I got a Drumstation (it is a Version 2) he said that many times he has considered selling his 808 and 909 and replacing them with one. He has done direct comparisons and he reckons the sound is so close its not funny.

I just wish my drumstation had a step sequencer built in

Yeah....I've also read that the step sequencer on the 909 is very important to it's sound/groove...........also that the swing on it kick's ass.

Default JOMOX ROCKS

Hey Boys and Girls!

have you ever heard about Jomox? Forget the old 909. The XBase for e.g. has a lot more parameters to manipulate drum sounds. It's an advancement of the old 909. And believe me: It kicks like woaaa...

Could very well be so.
But in the guys defense, the Jomox boxes do kick some serious butt. An unnamed forum member (unnamed as he probably wouldn't want the whole forum asking him) sent me some samples of his Jomox and they sound great! I looped and stretched one of the kick samples into a very nasty bassline.

If they were cheaper I would love one. But that could be said for heaps of gear recently.
