thanks for the advice... and in response to jes... yah, I have the basic idea behind a compressor... I dont need it to sweeten the sound... but rather... to tame the sound of a keyboard.

I perform on my virus like a piano (ie I dont sequence it) and I tend to create these bass/lead sounds through which I can use the filter (and the rectifying distortion) to add a sorta menacing wah sound... the trouble is... using a LP filter... I tend to run into UNGODLY HUGE VOLUME SWELLS... which... being a guitarist for most of my life (and dealing with sound guys) Ive realized that sound guys would want to murder me if I didnt find a way to normalize the sound output... this especially runs into alot of fun when recording, because I run my Virus through a boss delay (to fatten the sound) and that tends to completely fill the spectrum of sound (even though it doesnt sound like that.

I'll post an mp3 on pure volume to demonstrate what Im talking about (if youre interested)
