However, MOTU released Mach5 a couple months ago for windows, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they follow suit with MX4. I think they should also release Digital Performer for PC at some point, I switched from Cubase SX on PC to DP4 on Mac, and DP can be a truly stunning program at times.
As for switching to Mac, yeah, it's really expensive. My G5 was $3k, and then another $2k in software to get me comparably equipped to what I had on PC. But now I'm fast, stable, and anyone who comes into the studio is generally more taken by the shiny G5 than they were with a PC (of course, that doesn't mean anything unless you're trying to get money out of them, hehe). Which leads to a funny story: about three weeks ago, I had some relatively famous sisters (via HBO and the Playboy channel) come into the studio to work on a demo CD (they're friends of my guitarist). They were appalled that I had the audacity to ask what their budget was for me to work within, and they got up and stormed out because I wouldn't do engineer, score, and produce for free, since they're semi-famous. They said they were great friends with a bunch of big time producers in LA studios, so I said they should probably try those friends first if they're wanting it done for free. They said, "Well, they wanted to charge us, too." I was less than amazed.
Hmm, that is possibly the most off-topic post...ever.

Do it for free but make sure you take 95% of all the record sales.
