For a start, if you want to install a whole new sound bank, then you don't need to have the sequencer so slow. I usually set the sequencer at about 60bpm for installing a new OS or whole sound bank. If I want to install a few sounds out of 1 sound bank then I set the sequencer slow and force to edit buffer.
No need to disable the midi clock in the Virus itself either. I can't help with sounddiver as I don't use it, but what about your Cubase settings? Midi clock disabled in cubase? Sending of sysex enabled? Honestly it is so difficult trying to guess from this side of the web. Anyone else have any ideas?
