why do you switch to single mode then?
single mode has it's own midi channel setting. if it is because you want to edit the patch the answer would be: use MULTI-SINGLE mode: - press [MULTI]+[SINGLE] same time - both LEDs light up. in this case the MULTI is active but you can edit the selected part like in SINGLE mode. Select the part the by using [PART-] [PART+] -tk
