sound root, my sound breaks when i move octaves up or down

Hi, i need some help. I want to know how to change the root note of my patch.
When i have a sound and begin to move octaves up or down the sound begins to break or to sound phony, like in a sampler. Or sometimes it just sound betters in some notes. How can i do to stop this from happenning?
Or for example if i want a bass sound to sound better in the octave lower, where do i have to go and program it or tweeek the virus.
