Default Got a nice deal on a Access B Virus .. Help!

Hi everyone,

Recently a nice deal came by from a guy who owns a Virus B Desktop, but i am having a few questions i haven't been able to find the answer for:

How is the Virus B integration with Cubase 6? Is there a VST to use with the Virus B?
Am i able to add filters/effects/etc. on the mixing channel directly, or do i have to record the Virus output to a .wav file first?

I know The virus TI comes with a VST which saves alot of trouble, but what about the Virus B?

Thanks!

The Virus B will integrate with Cubase 6 if you happen to have an audio interface with MIDI Ports.

There's no VST or something like that for the Virus B. You have plain MIDI ports for communicating with the DAW

If you want to add filter/effects/etc. from the DAW, you have to first record the Virus B output as a WAV file.

>>Is there a VST to use with the Virus B?

No.

>>Am i able to add filters/effects/etc. on the mixing channel directly

Yes, using ASIO soundcard drivers (with as short a latency as you can get away with) on incoming audio, you can monitor VST channel effects on your Virus in near realtime without laying it down beforehand. However it depends on your computer's ability to handle this.

>>or do i have to record the Virus output to a .wav file first?

You can do that too.

Thanks for all the information guys!

Decided to save up for a Ti to fully profit from the presets out there, to easily save presets on my computer, and for the easiest integration into Cubase.

Default There are 3rd party options for VST interfaces.

I hate to disagree with the other posters, but there are 3rd party VST interfaces for the Access Virus a,b, and C.

It sounds like you are new so people probably didn't want to confuse you. The VST isn't necessary for operation, but rather provides a slick interface in your host so you can control it from your Software instead of diving into menus on your hardware. Once you start making your own patches you will see how useful visual feedback is as well as the ability to control directly from your DAW of choice IMO

None are perfect solutions or as slick as the new TI option.

SoundDiver - Available from Access Music when asked.

Just recently found this as well. I will test it as soon as I can, which means after I can set up my equipment after changing HQ.

There's also an older VST, in case the newest Ctrlr doesn't work:

Seems real nice.
