There is no different in cost, as the Keyboard is connected by USB.

I think you are missing the point - If you have a USB keyboard, the keyboard is connected without MIDI cables so it leaves the M-Audio free to connect with the Synth via MIDI.

There is no need for any extra MIDI interface, unless there is other MIDI outboard in the studio. But Lukas only talked about hooking up his sequencer, keyboard and Virus C.

You said this in your original post, but you said to connect the keyboard to the synth whereas ideally it should be connected via USB to the computer as is the Virus C.

The sound card has MIDI I/O. The soundcard is the MIDI interface

Drammy is correct.

Connect the keyboard via USB, hook up the Virus to the M-Audio MIDI I/O and bobs you uncle

Anyway if the keyboard is connected via USB and have MIDI IN/OUT then he also have al MIDI port in the keyboard. Then the keyboard is a MIDI interface...

Yes, but there is no keyboard MIDI thru and you won't be able to record arp patterns from the Virus thru the keyboard + the added latency of going down the USB and out the keyboard...

Why should there be more latency on a keyboard connected to USB rather than a MIDI interface that is also conneceted via USB??? Anyway he wont be needing the THRU because he can just connect the in and out of the virus to the keyboard and the keyboard to the PC by USB (like if the keyboard where a MIDI interface witch it actually is)...

Yes my point Onkel Donkel, we on the same line

If I measure with my Remote25 I don't get any additional latency. The Remote25 even has Midi Out1, Midi Out2 and Midi thru, so thats a connection fest
