I purchased a TI keyboard, and while I fucked myself for a week (like a 15 year old) over how great it sounded (boy does it sound great) The "bugs" and lack of OS 1.1 made my intuition tell me that this was not a mature product, so I returned it for a virus C on e-bay (I'm lovin it).....I realy realy wanted to own the TI, but all the skeletons in my closet (roland mc 505, emu extreme lead, Jv1080.......)made me stop and pause before I add to that collection....

Who knows why some TI's are on Ebay and why some are on Turnkey's B-stock list....its all speculation How you interpret things depends on your state of mind....

But one thing is for sure.....Access, in my opinion should consider dropping the TI concept. Hardware synth = hardware synth and thats the way its been for 40 years and there is no harm in conceeding that that is the way it should remain. When the Virus C came out and the marketing drive went on and on...I started to suspect Access were becoming over confident....almost arrogant. Put it this way.....the original Minimoog was a nice synth at the time....but it did not gain 'legendary' status until sometime after production ceased. When the Virus C came out 'people' were already talking of its filters as legendary blah blah blah......a bit premature in my book.

The possible reality is this > Access have had probably 2 years now to get the Ti and it aint happening. It will take a miracle to get it working for everyone....in fact....we all know that will probably never be the case. I should imagine sales of TI's is a bit light....and who the hell is going to have the confidence to buy into the Ti MKII concept? I was considering this.....maybe I still will....but for this kind of money I can buy real analog

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....

That's pandering to a modern market, DS. You might still be stuck in the 80's bubble, but the rest of the world has moved on. Like you, though, I wouldn't be so fussed about the TI's usb-audio aspect either - I think a professional soundcard should be a professional soundcard, and a pro synth a pro synth, and a pro mixer a pro mixer, but when you get the jack-of-all-trades there are compromises and manufacturers often tend to take the foot off the pedal in the areas they previously excelled at as a direct trade-off. As good as shooting themselves in the foot.
Ie. in this case, the bugs regarding the TI aspect here are forcing them to hold off the release of their new functionality updates for the one thing they are famed for - the sound engine.

I remember seeing the marketing for the Ti, with gimmicks like "more of the filters that you know and love!" etc.. They might as well have put "yeah! go get 'em, DJ Cool!!!!"

I was definately in the market for any "mk2", but admit now that I will be heavily assessing it before ever thinking about purchasing it. Given that many official reviews were off the mark this time, I would definately hold off until user-reviews trickled out.

...But we're jumping the gun. I think Access might as well hang themselves if they abandoned the Ti mk1 as the userbase would be reeling. I genuinely hope it's in their power to fix the mk1 as much as they can hope to, and to not bite off more they can chew in any such mk2.
