I'd also suggest one of the new phantoms. You will get alot of work done quickly with one of those things IMO.

Must try Kontakt 2. I'm still using Intakt as my sampler most of the time but I'm not happy with it.

Is there a particular reason you'll have to get something right now?

These monitors are precision tuned to provide flat frequency response and uncolored sound, giving you a true sonic reference for mixing. So when you mix on a good monitor, you know your mixes will translate accurately to other playback systems

for 600$ you'll get some nice biamplified direct fields, my favourites are Genelec, Mackie and Event !
you mean near field not direct field...

In my opinion your setup is missing a workstation type keyboard. Check out the light editions of the Triton or Fantom...that way you'll be able to start flling out your music with realistic acoustic sounds aswell. If you go with one of the new Roland Fantoms.....they have decent onboard memory for practical sampling.....you could kill 2 birds with one stone.

OK, so you have $600 to spare. My advice would be to go the full hog and buy a workstation on credit. Use the $600 upfront to pay some off and thus lower your monthly repayments. This is just my opinion.....

Go here to see the most affordable workstation around...and check out the demo's http://www.rolandus.com/products/det...id=Fantom%2DXa

Hope this helps....

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....

just about everything from sampling to sample playback,ah wait isnt that the same?

anyway a workstation will give you sounds of orchestra, strings and different times of natural insrtuments.
