Default Dual Core 3.2Gz or Core Duo 1.87Ghz (Performance)?

I have a dilema and a budget.

How fast is a dualcore 3.2ghz processor? Im not a softsynth fan....but Id like the capability to run insert effects and waves software on my tracks.

WTF is a Core Duo? Are these alot faser than the Pentium D's?

Just how much processing power do you need to run some nice insert effects, waves and eq etc etc?

Im a complete computer noob. I mainly use hardware.

Any advice please....

DS

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....
