Key follow base

Hi guys i was just wondering what this actually does its in the filter section under saturation type. I read this in the manual and i know what key follow is but im still not sure what this function actually does. I dont think iv seen it on any other synths?

C-2 to G8: The pivot-note for Key Follow. Notes below and above this point will be affected by Key Follow.

KEY BASE
This determines the MIDI note number from which the keyfollow parameter will start to have
an effect. To set the key base, either type in the MIDI note number in the text window, or click
on the button and press a key on your controller keyboard or the onscreen keyboard.
