Default Using Portamento

I'm trying to get a better handle on sequencing a patch with alot of pornamento. I havent been able to find the information i was looking for anywhere. HELP!!!!

I have a virus B, and the pornamento value goes from 0-127 ()might be that way in all of em but I have no clue) but what does 127 relate to? is that the value of one full beat? or is it some random "max time" value that the virus has built in? i'm trying to figure out how far ahead of the beat i need to sequence the note so it catches the actual tone right on the beat....

Anyone know what i'm talking about?

Thanks!

A

Isn't the max portamento lenght trivial? It's so long that it's generally useless. And why don't you set the portamento to suit the sound? It doesn't matter do you know how long the portamento is, only the sound matters.

I get your point, and I was tweakin it for a while last night and I think i got it, but i dont think its trivial... I write DSP code everyday for my job, and having that info makes me operate infinatly faster....

I'm a nerd and a scientist, numbers are my thing, but will just tweak away if i have 2

Its my first week of really playing with the box, and am amped up to get something useable out of it.... Just impatient by nature....

Regardless, Thanks for the response

BBN Technologies.... We invented the first router ever, and also the first email system. We have a very interesting history of product development really, and i'm surrounded by people with EMENSE knowledgebases, mostly doctors.... They've taught me alot about the science of sound, since alot of them have degrees in acoustics too, for sonar work....

you can check the company out

www.bbn.com

Thanks for trying to help tho guys, and you have any questions about why a MAC runs exponentially faster than a PC, or why 5th's are created when you use certain waveshapes, then i can probably help you out.... I kind of backed into the electronic music from the other angle....
