I DO make my own sounds. I never said that I want to make copies of the famous producer-styles.

Tea-mo : Actually, your "Out of the Blue" sounds so good that I' now VERY interrested in getting a jp-8080. However, I already ordered a Virus KC so I wonder if I'll actually need a jp....The supersaw on the 8080 sounds just so great. Do you have other sound samples ? You have any tutorial for the jp-8080 ? I want to understand a bit more that synth

Sorry for all those questions, I just want to get the right setup

so first thanx again for liking my out of the blue-programming..

I will write only a few words now cause I?m tired and I will go to bed now

So I think the JP-8080 is not the most flexible synth, but it has that sound that is very special.. Just like this Super-Saw waveform...

Don?t buy this Synth just to have this one waveform !!
Buy it for having all the functions and overall sounds.

The Virus is more than 300% "better" than the JP-8080, but anyway you can?t recreat a JP-8080 with a virus !!! It sounds different !!

The JP-8080 doesn?t sound analog, even it?s a VA. It realloy sounds quite digital...you nearly can hear all those 0 and 1 numbers

You can definately make more cool sounds with the JP-8080 than this "ferry corsten-supersaw" !!

So you should go to your nearest music-store and play on it a bit...(when they still have the JP-8080 !! )

Every Synth has pros & cons...the virus has pros & cons the JP-8080 has pros & some more cons,...

BUT: tell me a trance/techno producer who doesn?t have a JP-8000 or/and a JP-8080

The JP-8080 is a nice Synthesizer for every kind of music (except Heavy metal)

Thanks a lot for the info!

However, is there a LOT of differences between the JP-8000 and the JP-8080 ? I don't really care that the JP-8000 only has 8 notes polyphony because the Virus C will be my main synth. However, JP-8000 VS JP-8080, do both units have the same effects?

Thanks again!

The JP-8080 is a little bit better.

It has distortion, a vocoder, a noise-Wave in oscillator 2 and I?m not sure if the Unison function is in the JP-8000 (?) - I think NO.

So, the difference is not big, but the JP-8080 is better.

Here is another sequence from the JP-8080 Ferry-Sound (Which is no preset):

Gouryella - Tenshi (Transa Remix)

Holy shit. This one is totally incredible. You are very talented
Do you use much polyphony to get such a good sound ? Coz the Jp-8000 only got 8...And it does have the unison.

Do you think that you could exactly reproduce that exact sequence with the Jp-8000 ? If you could, then I'll go for the jp-8000 since it's very cheap used.

Thanks again,
really appreciate it!

Thanx again !!!

I?m glad that you all reply so positive reactions !!

So, I now read that the Unison-mode is in the JP-8080 only.

But now your questions:

I don?t use much polyphony for that kind of sequences cause the notes are all divided (step by step) - so they could even be played in mono-mode !
When I play it real poly, I have a real phat thing where I don?t need more polyphony ! The Sound has 3 Oscillators.

I can press 5 keys and the polyphony dies when pressing the 6th key. Sounds not much..but for this sound it?s phat enough !

YES, this sound can be made with the JP-8000, too.
But when you buy a JP-8000, think about the missing distortion-effect with that you can salt the sound much. FOR EXAMPLE ou can do an ABOVE & BEYOND Sound with the JP-8080 - and NOT with a JP-8000 !!

When you have an FX-Unit, you can add distortion with it..but I don?t know if you can make the exactly same kind of distortion of the JP...So you must know what you prefer !!

Tastes are different.

Bye
Tea-mo

And btw: you can get a used JP-8080 very cheap, too.
