access dealer: sorry son. you need one thousand four hundred and ninety nine of those dolla bills to get one of these here super charged puppies.
access customer: but i already have an access virus TI.
access dealer: but does it have turbo after the name?
access customer: ...well. no. but-
access dealer: then you lose! you need to have the turbo bit. otherwise you are *nothing*
access customer: ok. can i exchange my existing model for this new turbo thingy?
access dealer: heheheh. read the EULA sucka.
fake edit: i apologise to all access employees for this blatantly evil characterisation of your company - i dont think you are really evil

did this get posted on the forum? It was on the virus mailing list....

Dear Virus List,
Recently, we started our official beta test of the TI. This may sound vague,
but it represents a real milestone for the product. The TI hardware was
finalised months ago, and as you recently heard in "presets on parade" the
synth engine is working beautifully. The software components have taken more
time than we expected, however, as they include multi-platform drivers and
plug-ins, with proprietary components like none created before. We're
confident, however, that the end result will be worth the wait.
The wait *has* been unfortunately longer than we predicted, and for this we
apologize. Our marketing deadlines were ambitious, but it wouldn't be
acceptable for us to break from a history of releasing solid reliable
instruments when their time was right, by shipping the TI before it was
truly ready. We are grateful for your pre-orders and your patience, and we
assure you that we have neither forgotten nor neglected your investment in
our vision and this exciting product, now in its final stages.
Meanwhile, there's a hidden benefit which accompanies the wait: the time
taken by some aspects of the synth has meant time *added* for enhancing
others. For example, we have been able to offer a better selection of
optimised wavetables, and also fine tune the manual to a degree previously
unheard of for Access products (insert smiley here).
So, as Jay pointed out, "the TI rocks" and "all is good." He's right: Access
is thriving: dedicated to bringing you the best possible product at the
soonest possible date. When there is official news, I'll try to make sure
that you, the members of this list, get it first.
best, marc
PS: As for the Frankfurt show: the status quo may say "be there", but we
have found the return on that particular investment to be questionable.

Well there is a first time for everything, and I am glad that you can
actually bring yourself to apologise for the situation.

good news.

nice work howard....
>So, as Jay pointed out, "the TI rocks" and "all is good."
All is not good - I did not receive my ti last december....
I think other preorder customers will agree with me that an official
statement such as this from access is long overdue... better late than
never.
if you were surprised by the number of messages on this list over the last
couple of days - dont even try to imagine how nasty this board will become
if the thing still ships with numerous bugs - by holding out for so long the
pressure has mounted....
I look forward to finally getting my TI keyboard that I preordered on
November 10.
regards

bottom line - access advertised a release date which they have overshot by 4 months (nearly 6 months now since my preorder....)
of course i dont want a buggy product - i just dont want to be constantly lied to in order to prevent me from supporting other manufacturers in the meantime....
that nord stage sure looks dandy. wonder if clavia will have it shipping before the end of the year?
cheers

I really have mixed feelings about this update!
I mean, it's great that, for once, they give a status on the situation.
However, we've already been told MONTHS ago that they starting the beta testing phase. In the email, they said "RECENTLY"...
So how soon "soon" really is if "recently" means months?
That's the $2295 question!
I can wait a FEW more weeks...But months? No way
