Default My problem, Kick related

Hi,

On my virusC I've made a bunch of high-power kicks over the months. Heres my problem:

I sample the kick with my MPC and dump it into battery3. Then, I'll be playing an arpeggiated bassline from the virus like up-down 2 octaves note G as an example. I trigger my kick in battery(via ableton) and it's completely off! I've tried screwing with all the settings in battery and still no advancement. Last night I went to my producer-friends house and we decided to see if we could find a solution. We triggered his 808 to the bassline and it's on time. So as an experiment we recorded the kicks into protools and compared the 808 waveform and the virus's kicks(yes we did try preset kicks on the virusC which werent triggering on time either!). What we found was that there was a much wider gap in the waveform cycle. We just couldn't figure out how to get it to properly sync. There was a few more things I wanted to try but didn't get the chance.

I know there's a solution to this problem somewhere, as alot of ebm bands I listen to have their virus kicks triggering on time.

So my questions are, has:
A. Anyone had such a problem
B. How can I solve this dilema
C. Recommendations\suggestions

If anyone can provide any information I will be gratefull.

Regards,

Jayson

have no clue what the reason is ... but:
a) you could cut the kick samples in their beginning
b) or adjust the sample start position in the sampler.
to get triggered properly on time.

well ... the question is just, where that delayed trigger comes from?
and i wonder why you sample with MPC and not directly to Wave Audio?!

Psy,

I forgot to mention, when we used protools we went right to wave format, the sample wasnt from the mpc.

Adjusting the sample start position in battery yielded minor differences but still couldn't get it in time with the bass.

When I have more time I'll try.

sometimes i have the problem that the bass line from the virus is out-of-sync,
especially when i have switched it on after loading the project file.
samplers usually tend to have more accurate timing ...

maybe try to put the kick on an audio track - just for comparison.
since improper VST latency compensation can be the reason for timing issues.

Well, I figured out the problem, and it's mostly personal error. When I triggered the kick at my friends and refined the sample in battery I was using the WRONG bassline which would inevitably cause a dissonance. So now I'm in bussiness.

Thanks for the help psy.

Jayson
