An organ type patch chained to a side-chain should get you started.

sidechained for sure.... but the patch itself... it seems it's like a 8-bit sound... with a fast attack...
maybe you can name the same-sounding preset?

Im a big Deadmau5 fan but I spend most of my time trying to make some of his crunchy analog bass sounds.

How about the synth sound from their song called, "not exactly"

Now that would rule!

Heh, we all know what you're thinking, but probably best to bite your lip eh!

Actually, "Not exactly" is a well produced track IMO. And Jaded back in 2006. Having said that, he did become quite a household name and much too commercial for my liking. Plus every tune has that 8/8 sidechained stab and heavy kicks, which gets worn out after the 50 billionth time you use it in a track!
/mini rant

On a sound design note, if you want to recreate the stab: I'd be aiming for a organ style chord, sharp attack, quick release, chorused, heavily reverbed, and yes, heavily sidechained. I can have a go at creating this patch if someone would like?
I saw a youtube tutorial for deadmau5 style production from Taho, i'll try and dig it up.
