i'd like to buy it locally
but there is no way i could afford it
($1,695.55 + shipping + tax ~$2000AU vs $3800AU local (tax included))

most music gear, especially specialised things like synths, appear approximately double the price here compared to the online US retailers etc
i guess its a small market
and i think the aus distributors must have a huge mark up

(this isn't access specific.. EVERYTHING is expensive here)

I'm done, will look elsewhere. access could have lowered the price to work on volume, didn't happen, or worn us to buy by the first or face an increase, didn't happen.

Nicely put! The Virus is a beast all its own, no doubt of that. It's worth every penny I paid for mine, and I sure as hell would buy another if mine were lost or stolen.

If I completely lost my studio in a freak event, the Virus would be the first thing I'd re-buy. If I was FORCED to sell off my studio for funds, the Virus would be the last thing I'd sell. I'll probably take it to the coffin with me.

If buying new is too expensive, buy second hand off of eBay or the like. Picked up my Indigo for £400 about 4 yrs ago on there. I'm sure you'd be able to get a good deal on a TI.

i would never have guessed my original post would keep on keeping on
but here we are 3 pages deep and counting...cool
anyway, i've got my polar coming from sweetwater very soon,
they sold it to me at the pre- price increase rate (i had started the proccess
about a week earlier)

i tried to make it clear to my sales engineer that while i understood
the economic situation as regards the dollar vs the euro
no warning of this increase was given or hinted at as far as i knew.
to make a long story short, we worked it out.
so,when they get some new ones in stock i will have my
frosty beauty!
oh well i will just have to make do with my new fantom G8
when it arrives tomorrow or saturday.
