Tomer-

I hope this is not off base or to personal, but i was looking at some old Astral projection and MFG album notes the other day (i forget on which) but there was a mention of a "Tomer" made me wonder if the 2 names are the same?????
sorry if this puts you on the spot

i was half joking hollow but you know what i mean...
if your stacking synths, better get real analog or at least digital synths which use different methods of synthesis = Vsynth for is a good example for a "different" kind of synth.

Tomer is a common israeli name...

Tomer I can see what you are getting at, but have to disagree! I can defintely see the benefit of owning different synthesis synths. Sure VA synths use the same methods to get results (sounds), but each VA has its own color tone or oscillators. Therefore different sounds come out of different VAs if the exact same patch was programmed. A synth's sounds are all determined by the hands of the owner.

LOL - I got four of them (well, 2 + 2VA capable) and by the end of this week, will have 5. They are all very different.

I do keep thinking of a real analog, then think erm spend a fortune on a mono synth when about he only mono synth type stuff I do i deep bass lines where all I need is a good single osc and snappy envelopes and a good resonant filter. 1000-2000UKP for a moog doesnt exactly seem like a sensible use of loot when you consider what else could be had...

Little fatty looked interesting - but too crippled for the money...

So by friday should have a Radias parked on top of my TI

After playing with one for hours - I think they will make an excellent complimentary pair.

Man you have some cash behind you Khazul!
You might need a little more space soon though.

Hey hold on, wasn't the Machine drum on top of the TI before? What happened?

@Tommer. Yeah I know, I just had a shot, so I thought I'd kick ya before everone else got a chance.

Who says you need a MOOG for a mono synth???? What about MEK??? What about the Mighty Yamaha CS-10???? What about a SH-2 or similar????? These can be found rather cheap, and are fat as hell....

What about a SE-1???? There's some MOOG for ya...

No excuses mate!!!!!

I love VA's but I also love my analogue modular. If at all possible and you have a couple of hundred ? then buy yourself a second hand one. You don't have to go big, a couple of osc's with 2 adsrs, vca. A good filter.
blah blah blah.

I know oakley sound systems have stopped selling but go to their site someone else is selling them. There is a massive synth diy community. Get involved and you'll get an excellent synth for very little money. Mine only cost ?300 to build. You can buy built units too.

I'd advise this rather than paying someone like moog thousands for a synth that has had its circuits copied and emulated in so many ways. (Not slagging moog, just wouldn't pay ??'s for something I haven't played and probably never will )
