Default by by Virus... Hello Refx Vanguard

Has anyone on here heard this thing? For 90 bucks you get a plug in VST soft synth that sounds unreal!. Could there be a day where our beloved Virus gets replaced by a soft synth?

Will a softie take the place of my Virus?

No, not unless I build another computer specifically to be used for one soft synth with a seperate controller (with knobs a plenty), inputs and outputs. Also the soft synth would have to be very special indeed, and the computer would have to have the latest in DSP technology.

I've seen this soft-synth before, heard that it sounds great also - but i dont know, if i had a Virus i would probably not exchange that for a software-synth..

I really like the hardware.. if i had the money i would build a synthesizer around a hardware sequencer like Roland MV-8000 (which i am intending to) esp. after some rumours i've heard about the OS2.0 update.

For me, a 'synth' is not just about sound....its also about having something you can stand behind and 'play'.

I will probably never trully regard computer based softsynths as a viable alternative!

This softsynth didnt sound particularly special in my opinion. Sounded flat and way too thin for my taste.

Fuk the soft synths...im going to build my own analog synth using this >>>> http://www.paia.com/p9700s.htm#p9700s

Its the cheapest way of having an analog

I got that one.. but it is fucked up right now.. i probably toasted some of the parts in it while modifieing it..

It sounds so nice when its working properly.. but sometime the filter leaks thru unfortantly..
