are all the elements of the song from Virus Ti???......very nice!!
|
Well... Of course the vocals and some percussion are sampled material. But all the synths come from Virus TI, which I seem to adore...
Could please anyone post something which supposedly is irreplicable on Virus? Not that I would dare to reconstruct it on a Virus - I just want to understand what kind of bass are you talking about....

I dont know about the quality of all the samples here, but check out This Thread
Also, if you really wanna be scared at night, check out Hollowcells twisted bass, consisting of a Yamaha CS-10, Nord Lead, and Virus filters...
You can find Hollowcells thread Here

Do any of the 'dance' crowd actually know how to program any more ?

Take a look at the link above in Jasedee's post which leads to the sounds I made using a Nord, CS-10 all routed through the Virus filters. Most of us here programm our sounds and many are reasonably good at it too, but simple programming only get's you so far.
If someone could replicate those sounds I made using a TI I'd be very shocked indeed!
To go one step further to what you've said. I think it's weak when people just programm sounds and do not try any different production/recording or true sound design methods.

Well... I've checked your samples out. You have there some really impressive bass. I understand it is multi layer and I presume that you couldn't reproduce the exact sound on a Virus, but you could try to have the layers done and then mix it... But I gues it goes down to a plain simple truth which is - no matter what gear you use and how you use if it makes you (and your audience) happy.

Does anyone know a nice analogue (mono)synth for basslines that can be controlled by MIDI and is capable of generating sine waves with it's OSCs? Ideally something that fits in my rack

Thanks for the compliment.
I have tried layering and routing the Virus in a similar way, but it always seemed to be quite flat, almost dull in comparison. I really just think it's the Virus's "sound" if you know what I mean. Don't get wrong though, you layer the Virus with leads, pads or general madness and it kicks arse - just with bass it doesn't.
But like you said. It's really down to what makes the individual happy isn't it. Many people like the Virus bass after all.
