Default Whats more classic? A Nord 2 or Nord 3?

Ive owned/USed both........but no longer have either of them. In your opinion which of these 2 will become more collectable and reveered in years to come? My money is on the N2. What do u guys think?

Just interested....

non of thos,
new synths will come...
in 5-10 years from now i dont think va's will consider as clasics just old... newer, stronger and more complex machines with new synthesis methods will come.

I do agree with Tommer (in a way). DSP technology will increase until synths have alot more options. But who knows, maybe people will want the simplicity of older synths. I don't think VAs will be collectable so much though - unless the new breed of synths changes from emulating analogue.

All I know is that the nord has an definite characture and that's one of reasons I'll never get rid of mine. As far as comparing the the NL2 to the NL3 - I have no idea. Remember they are still making NL2s in the form of the NL2-X.

another thing that makes a synth clasic is rareness which wont happend because so many VAs were produces.
the lifeline of this synths is much longer then average 80s synth.
i can put my virus in a warhouse put some paper on it so nothing will get oxydized and gather dust and in 30 years it will be like brand new...
and maybe will triple its original price

I hope the NL2 because I've just bought one. I've always wanted a NL2 although I own a NM that can perfectly emulate a NL2. I assume it must be some brain injury !

thats true. another thing that makes a synth a classic is its signiture sound. the music im into...the signiture sounds of those styles are 90% of the time from a jp8080, a nord lead and/or an access virus. in that sense they are classics and they have pretty good resale values because they are still in such demand despite the fact that many musical styles built on these instruments (in particular trance) have been in decline for several years. i know nl1 and nl2 are still like, the defining instrument in psytrance. every psy producer has one. dont see many with nl3s though. but then it hasnt had the time that its predecessors have had to establish itself. give it a few more years. maybe in 10 years time, nl3 will be really cheap and some new bedroom producers will make a style of music that is heavily reliant on this synth and it becomes a phenomenal success and then EVERYONE will want an nl3, sky rocketing them to tb303 price and status. it really depends.

Ok you N2 owners.....doesnt the Filter piss you off? Like the resonance especially!

Do you like the N2 filters?

*Apart from the Virus' do you guys think the N2 is the second best VA outthere?

The Notch and HP filters on my NL2 are bloody nice - just wish it had an external input.

I use my Nord and Virus about the same amount actually. I wouldn't say it's second best next to the VC though. It's just different.
