Default New Site, new start

Hi guys and gals...

Welcome to the new host of our Unofficial Virus forum.

Now that the site has moved and we have more control over it I think its a good opportunity to lay some ideas on the table and discuss what to do with it.

I am very keen not to change anything from the admin side of things - I don't want to moderate and all that as I simply haven't got time, but 1 thing I am keen to do is to update the phpbb to a newer unhackable version...

This will take time as there are mods on the forum and it is quite a big jump up to the new version so bear with me.

In the meantime, lets take this oppotunity to open discussions for what you guys would like to do with the forum and spread the word about http://infekted.org!

nice one geezer!

upgrading should be the top priority. Also, although you don't want to moderate I think you should be an administrator, for the technical stuff, if you are happy to do that.

Other than that, I don't think there is much I'd want changed except perhaps a little bit more moderation, in terms of threads being in the right section. i.e. move all the threads bitching about the ti problems to the Trouble section so I can easily ignore them

Fucking mega w00t. Sweet as.

wtg drammy baby, we're not worthy!

The lesser-hackable phbb certainly sounds like the #1 thing, given time.

What was interesting was others' initial views of hosting more subsections for other hard core synths (Dave Smith Inst., Andro, VSynth etc.). Sounded pretty cool! Although, it'd probably increase gear lust.

Are there any forums for DSI, Andro, VSynth out there already? If not, that might be a niche that could possibly be filled, all under one hood.

Would make for a good discussion, we'd have to hear everyone's views as it would be a jolly big step.

PS > Drammy, do you want me to "frame-foward" the URL, or leave it so that it re-directs you to the s160469372.websitehome.co.uk URL (as it currently is)? Frame-forwarding looks neater, but is a blanket URL, and so has the effect of censoring the real URLs when you want to link to a certain page/thread elsewhere.

I agree with this. There is DSI forum, andro/v-synth (none I know about).

I do think the virus should still be the main part of the site though. Just my .02

Hi and bloody great work guys!

Now we really have to get rid of that "Sponsored by Sunesha" logo up there!

There is already a V-Synth board called V-tribe or Roland Clan (which I have started to post on a little), but as I've dribbled a fair bit about it here I don't mind starting another section for it. It's my favourite bit of gear at the moment....

Again, great job guys!

Mmmm, what changes shall we make????

Top stuff boys...

There are forums for DSI... http://www.ex5tech.com/ex5ubb_cgi/ul...ubb=forum&f=23

and the andy a6....
http://electro-music.com/forum/forum-90.html

and vsynth...
http://forums.rolandclan.info/?action=show_all&fid=4

They dont get much use though (well the vsynth one does, the others dont get hardly one post every couple of weeks) so they are pretty shit. Maybe we could have a small section on infekted for each, obviously the ol virus being the main attraction tho.

Maybe some big advertising on the old forum and the other virus forum that we have moved here, otherwise some people will probably still post to the old one.

Timo,

Are you not able to point the domain at another Name Server?

That should resolve both issues.

If so let me know and I will PM you the details.

Ta,
Drammy
