Fair enough I suppose.....no big deal. It was just an idea...

Could be a niche in the market there, are there any design companies that specialise in customizing synths? If cars and bicycles can be customized then why not synths?

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....

I always liked the look of that Virus C that had LEDs. Not sure if I'd pay to get it done though. I don't think I'd want it out of my studio for the time it took to get it done either.

I wish someone would make a clear synth though.

I bet you could get it done for 300 bucks or so. Im thinking the expensive part would be the silk screening. You could probably strip the old paint and paint it yourself with an airbrush. I would just do a little research on the chemicals or whatever you need to get the original paint/graphics. This is something Im very interested in. BTW, check my other post, one of my ideas is to make a minimoog style cabinet and put my own keys/ mod wheels etc and get a virus c tabletop and put the rack on a hinge and try to make it look professional real minimoog style but keep the virus panel, knobs etc.

There are already companies that do this. Here's one of 'em:-

http://www.forat.com/service/all%20pictures.htm

Most are, er, grotesque, imho. And most are Akai samplers, but there's a few keyboards in there too.

Korg Triton ^^^ .

Eugh.

Lol, the customised AKAI user pics are actually quite funny. No dissin' da funky-ass beat rappaz 'n der biyatches, blood bro' mutha, innit y'all.

Almost all of those were quite ugly. They do have a nice professional look though(good craftsmanship but bad designs). A couple that had real basic color were nice though. 600 still sounds kinda expensive, the only reason it's so much it becasue of their clients. Do you have any other links to similar companies?

Classic.

The chrome MPCs look pretty cool though. While make'n musak, look down to check if ya bling is blinging. That was my best attempt at homie talk by the way.

I work at digital print shop, and what we do is print a full color image directly to a vinyl with an adhesive on the back. I'm not a pro at customizing synths or anything, but my cousin is a dj and I printed him up some cool japanamation image and we laid it over the top of his mixer.
We had to take the knods, sliders, and faceplate off to do it.
It came out pretty cool. The slits for the sliders looked a little funny but he didn't care.
I just don't know if I could pull a virus apart like that. 8O
