Default XV 5050 or JV 1010????????

I'm about to buy an jv 1010 or a xv 5050. The xv costs about twice as much, but that's not a problem. But is it worth the money? I've done some research over the net and there's some reviews telling that the jv actually sounds better!? Now, the problem is that I've just heard the XV module, and that sounded very well to me. Any suggestions, anyone who knows the difference in sound quality?

The JV has really puny set samples when compared to XV5050 (actually those machines can't be even compared on that section), but they have different type of DAC's, so the difference is really minimal on output quality. Some people prefer JV DAC's to be better and that's why some people say JV sounds better.

Are you sure it's the JV1010 you are after the 1010 is the half rack version of the JV1080, it has the same sound set and the session board. It can't be compared to the 5050. You should look at the XV2020 which is to the 5050 what the 1010 was to the 1080.

If it is the 1010 I wouldn't bother with the it. When I first heard it I thought it was ideal for the basic sounds you might need but I later found found it's sound very lacking in sound quality. Maybe it was just that particular unit which might have been the case.

Oh yes, it was the JV 1010. Take a look at "harmony central" if you like:

http://www.harmony-central.com/Synth/Data/#man

There's a lot of reviews about different products written by all kind of users... But I find it pretty hard to trust the reviews, because most peolpe either rate their equipment a 10, or very low. (You can rate between 1 and 10). If someone for example hears a Virus A they usually rate it a 10 and says its the best thing they've ever heard. But if they had heard the B or C series instead, they sure had thought that they sounded even better, but the problem is that most people dont compare. pity...
