I was programming some new sounds on the Alpha Juno2 and managed to stumble upon the "What the" patch! The "What the" patch apparantly started off the Hoover craze. I have no idea if it did or not really though.

Anyway.....

I recorded it to an MP3 if you wanna listen. Go to the sound click link in my signature to find it.

The 1st sound you'll hear in the short demo is the "What the" patch completely dry and un-effected straight off the Juno. The other sounds you'll hear are a single mono sample of the same patch (only the tail of it though), ran through the Virus filters, envelopes and FX.

I played the sound live too, so excuse any playing fuck ups. Also sorry for the cheesy riffs - trance aint my thing.

Ooh i`m interested to listen to that patch from the juno, nice one m8 !

Soundclick seems to be playing up at the moment im getting `Error Occurred While Processing Request` so i`ll try again later.

Oh for the person who asked for the mid file.... I`m not really set up for midi with my pc atm but will try and set something up later this week if i have time. (those patches in the recording have changed a little since then) Tbh i really need to get a 4 in 4 out midi interface or something cos i hate not being able to record knob movements from all my gear with my current daisy chained setup

Regards

Ade

Just managed to listen to your `What the...` juno patch. Its got that great velvet like smoothness but is phat as hell, love it lol !

I might try sampling my `hooveresque` sounds in my extreme to see what i can come up with.
I seem to spend infintely more time creating patches than producing complete tracks these days, it does me good in terms of inspiration tho so i`m not complaining

Yeh, it is quite a gutsy sound for sure. I should have played a few notes in the deeper end of the scale too to show you guys - next time I guess.

I tend to go through stages of programming. 2 weeks programming, 2 weeks making tunes. Having sounds on hand ready is the way to go.

Default alpha juno2

Hollow, what is so unique in alpha juno to get the phat hoover leads and hoover basses? Is it the filters or the phat osc(pwm)?

I'm not really sure transash. The filters are quite nice, but I'd say I like the filters on the VC a little better (many analogue freaks would kill me for that). The Juno has a "tone" which seems to be hard to mimick though.

I don't know enough about synthesis to comment on exactly what the differences are though. Maybe someone who hears that sound that i recorded can elaborate more.

dargging this back from the dead, someone (Alexander Odden I thnk) posted this on the access mailing list so credit goes to him, but I believe it is a pretty good hover patch.

tranzash: I own a juno as well as a virus and it sure isnt the juno's filter! It is really bad compared to the virus and the synth is quite noisy...It's great for pads, some basses and that famous hoover sound
So in the end, it really comes down to its cool osc(pwm)
