Virus Indigo multi-midi crash

so a friend of mines virus indigo (1 not 2) is having issues. every time i put it in multi mode for multiple midi channels, after awhile it will reset to mono midi mode (only 1 channel at a time).
theres no power cycle or interruption but it definitely resets the channel settings that i have made. i turn channel 1 on and 2 on and 3 on (all others off).

for some reason it resets without rhyme or reason to it. sometimes it will happen when i play midi into it and sometimes when its just sitting there.

any ideas?
