Default Virus TI CPU load

I am wondering what kind of cpu load we should expect when we got 16 parts active, arps running and stuff...

Is the Virus software interface cpu hungry, or will I be able to run the Virus alongside many vsts or even other hardware synths without much latency?

I really do hope that all the calculations are done within the virus itself

Well,

it's meant as a standalone as well, so all processing has to be done inside.

You just lose _some_ editing options, the programmable ARP for instance, when running standalone.

CPU load should be lowish, though audio-streaming might add some extra load.

the programmable ARP is the only parameter (-set) which is exclusively available to the remote. as for the CPU load, it's very low. audio and midi driver create a certain load which usually ranges around 1-3% depending on the CPU and OS. the cpu load is created by the fact that the computer has to send and receive the audio streams. the actual calculation of the signal happens, of course, in the virus exclusively.

by the way: this certain CPU load is true for every audio interface driver.

best, marc

That is good news on the CPU load!

I was hoping that it wouldn't present too much of a load since it was mainly passing audio/midi back and forth but it is nice to hear the "official" word on that.

Thanks for the update Marc, much appreciated!
