i think you are being a bit harsh saying the virus cant do bass...
while i agree that analog *can have advantages in this department.
I feel the virus i quite capable of shaking the floor too.

u don't get it ppl.
i was asking about the virus spec' & the sonically the use of pads...

i know that analog bass module SE SE1X got mo' guts in the bass area.

VIrus got a complexer rounting & mo' diverse type of sound :
to pure synth freak sounds to more realistic sounds.
So is there soundsets mo' focused on hip hop, rock music.
Thx i hope i made it clearer !

yeah but not in the same way a single voice of unEQud,un"boosted" minimoog or juno bass does.

the virus is not too stable in the lower octaves as few analogs are.

Btw,if you guys are looking for a good minimoog clone check out the Gmedia Minimosta.
superb quality of sound and almost perfect emulation of the MM texture and sound.

To tell you the truth I don't really know what sort of sounds are used in hip hop, other than those realistic string stabs which would most likely come off a ROMpler like a Triton or a Motif like you already have or from a sample library.

Any chance of putting up a few examples of what you want to achieve?

well i got rompler but i need an hardware to accomplish weird sound, arpegio, controlled VST piano, & most of all, playin' flute, pads, leads melodies with it.
Twinkin', programmin' my own patches & everything.
Got sum clavia last year, not really feeling the poor multitimbrality & no FX section.
I hesitate between Alesis Andromeda & Virus TI Polar.
Virus spec are huge & matrix is bigger than the Andromeda one.
Headache

check for sum Dr Dre last beats on 50, G Unit & Chronic 2001.

I think the best thing is just head down and demo one.

Take some time and program the sounds you want. Take an MD and record it to play back in the studio (if they won't give you one for a few days).

i cant see how you cats are saying the virus TI isnt good for bass.

i made the sickest ripping bass the other day. i use a real juno, p5, moog and the gforce minimonsta. it may be EASIER to get a sick bass with them... however TI can hold a candle to all of them in terms of punchy tonal quality, boominess, sizzling rippness or whatever you are looking for.

..... its all about the envelope/eq saturation and filters dinkys!!!

sorry. realized i didnt give anything towards the original question. YES u can make insanely original hip hop pads/leads with this thing. but (like most synths) its NOT a one stop HIP HOP SHOP. dont throw your fave hard/soft sampler away yet ;D u still need it to be fully original imo.

I find it strange you'd want to use the virus for bass when you've already got some nice analogs. BTW which Moog do you have? A Prodigy?

When I had the Virus KC I couldnt get anywhere near the bass response of a Pro-One or Jupiter 8 for example. Even with EQ'ing, Unison and lots of little tricks.....just couldnt get it. Virus is very nice for everything else except bass....but then again Id only use analog bass....for others...im sure the virus is good enough.
