Default Hi folks !

Well, I?m a little bit too lazy at the moment to precisely introduce myself. The Virus TI Desktop kept me from sleeping the last days, since it?s NOT a finished product yet, no way. The overall sonic quality is fantastic, but there are loads of showstoppers.

I hope Access will continue listening to this forum and I can be helpful sorting out the remaining bugs especially in the VC.

Let?s begin....

Hi ten,

nice to meet you here

Well, I?m working on a "deep-level" analysis of the issues I experience. Most of them are related to the MIDI-timing. Had lotsa DSP crashes with the VirusTI.

Since I?m a well educated Nuendian, I will try to do my report in the "repro-workaround" way.

Will do some more tests/tweaks today, I think I?ll post my findings 2morrow.

Have a nice day !

Cheers,
Matthias

Welcome to the forum!

Hey jasedee,

don?t be impressed by gear, it?s just money. Others have big cars or a penthouse, I have a studio. What counts is the creativity

Honestly,

I?m doing recordings/mixing on a daily basis, it?s not just a passion of mine. Just the VirusTI I bought for myself...like all of my other synths... sometimes I like to do my own music.

Thanks for the welcome !

Cheers,
Matthias

Hi midi !

I already found your post a few days before and YES, this is exactly what happens with the VC on both DAWs.

1. The Arp is playing too late by about 30-40 ms when only USB is used (both MIDI and audio)
2. Btw., nothing is in sync when using the USB audio connection.
3. Selecting the Virus as the ASIO device, things are getting better, the Arp is in sync 80% of the time, but then gets it?s hiccup and sometimes crashes the whole Virus (DSP making loud loud noises...)
4. The sluggish MIDI timing can be easily tested with the Nuendo Arpeggiator. Where my NordRack3 produces extremely tight notes, the Virus moves the played notes randomly to +/- 4 ms.... scary !

etc etc. (will write a more detailed report after this weekend which will probably be wasted for the Virus)

Funny sidenote: If I use USB MIDI but the analog outputs, everything is in sync when I hit play on Nuendo when the MIDI notes start EXACTLY where the Nuendo position pointer is.
For example: Have a single note over 5 bars in Nuendo starting at bar 03.00.00, position the song pointer to 03.00.00 and hit PLAY > everything?s fine. But when the next note is going to be played, it will be out of sync again with a probability of say 60-70%. This only happens if the notes are not legato. If there is no gap, the Arp stays in sync as long as the first gap appears.

This is all somewhat strange.... makes me begging for an update.

Pretty sure all problems can be traced down to the USB thing. But when SX works, I don?t understand it anymore

Cheers,
Matthias
