Before I bought my virus KC someone told me that vanguard sounded exactly like the virus series and it made me not want the virus anymore, even though there are some cool sounds in vanguard it was very thin and most of the sounds were based on having sampled wave forms which never sound right at lower octaves.

I bought the virus anyways and was very happy to find that YES it can do everything vanguard can do AND it's not thin at all (unless you want to make it thin) and it does alot more.

the virus B and C don't have alot of differences only a few extra features and voices so I'm speaking for both here.( I wanted the C for the extra voices lofi bit cruncher and mini moog filter)

I say go for it, you will be very happy.

Just keep in mind that the virus series is really a programmer?s synth that begs for you to dive into it.

Vanguard is nothing even remotely like a virus, apart from the fact they both generate sounds.

Anyone with even acute tinnitus would tell you immediately how different they are. They are simply not even remotely in the same vicinty of sounding the same....ie vanguard is utter shite.

You really should have asked if Vanguard can do what a Virus B can and the answer is a resounding NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

If ya lookin at a good deal on a virus and you're not sure, just fuckin do it. You will never regret owning a Virus B/classic or Virus C. You might regret how much you had to pay for it, but the joy of ownership will last far longer than the pain of expenditure.

A friend of mine did these with Vanguard:
http://www.madstation.net/vanguard.mp3
Content done with Vanguard:
1st clip: FX whirl, FX sweep, all synths
2nd clip: sweep, all synths
3rd clip: hp sidechain bass
4th clip : FX sweeps, all synths

I personally am not a big fan of Vanguard but in the right hands it can be a really nice tool

Vanquard has some good synthesis. I used it back in the day. The mp3 demo MADSTATION posted pretty much says it all.
