Default Argh, Virus C problem!

Sometimes after being on for a while, my Virus suddenly starts sounding a bit fucked up. Whichever patch it is goes all distorted and squealy (it's kinda hard to describe). The controls still change the sound but it's impossible to get a usable sound out of the machine. Switching it off and then back on again restores it to normal. It was something that was happening about once a week and so I was living with it but it did it about 6 times in an hour this afternoon and it really pissed me off. Anybody ever heard of this problem before?

CC's being sent to it from your sequencer?

Have you tried the synth with no connections to your other gear to see if the problem still happens?

The battery could be dying, a small possability.

I'll give that a go. It did it when I took it round my mate's house last week too - no sequencer connected to it, just his controller keyboard so I don't think it's sequencer related. Cheers for the suggestions

OK, I decided to do a system reset and now it's acting even more bizarrely! I was just playing a sequenced track through it and it started fine but then I was getting intermittent sound out of it - ie, the sound was cutting out of both outputs at the same time. THEN, it kept hanging - the LEDs stopped pulsing and the synth was really slow to react to patch changes. I think I might try different MIDI cables and if that doesn't work, an OS reinstall? Is that a good idea?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that when the sound was cutting out, the MIDI on symbol on the Virus was still coming on so it was definitely receiving MIDI data.

Nope, I got it off Ebay, hehe. Is there any way you can date the unit via the serial number?

Well, it seems more stable than it was, but I haven't given it any serious use this week really. I might put it through it's paces tonight though...
