Default sounddiver, a virus c, and a fireface 800 - midi problems

hey guys, im wondering if you can help me out.

I'm trying to download all the presets currently on my virus c before i start messing with it.

im using sound diver and the two midi ports on my fireface 800. however when i do the midi test in soundiver it claims no data was returned (when i loop back the cable connecting the input and output).

sound diver also complains of text missing when i first start it up.

despite these problems i can still download patches and see them on my screen, but im getting midi errors and im not sure if i can trust it or if it will work the other way around. ive set the global channel and device id's to 1.

if anyone knows what might be going on here it would be greatly appreciated, because i have until tommorow to decide if im going to return it.

thanks for any help!

okay its quite odd. the first time i tried this, i managed to retrieve 15 entries from bank b, but nothing else. the next time i opened sounddiver, i retrieve the multi singles bank, but nothing else.

just thought it might help identify whats going on if i post this.

it is impossible to work with SD. if you search the forum, almost all members had communication with SD and stopped usng it.

Try www.borgstation.com. this free librarian lets you organize your banks and patches but you can't edit anysounds.

Talking SD is le poo poo

Like my title said...

If you can get the midi (standard midi format) files.
The download section of the access site and others have them.
Your CD you got with your virus has the OS and other
standard midi files. Use these with your favorite Seq. Program.

Play back your files at 80 BPM tempo so that your virus
has enough time to get all the info. without creating overflows
and errors. SYSEX is sent over MIDI Channel 16.

Use SEARCH in our forums for more info.
