Default virus c midi routing and live 6

hey guys. im just wondering what the best way is to route your midi setup with ableton live 6.

is anyone using midi thru?

i currently have the midi in and midi out on the vrus c connected to the midi in and out of my fireface 800. however, in live when i try to send track or sync info out on the midi out channel, i get the channel lit in orange which indicates there is some kind of conflict. i cant see why because its all connected properly, and nothing else is using these channels (that i know of).

thanks for any help guys.
