Default The "Dream" Virus Amplifier..

Hi all!
I'm a guitar player and in the guitarists community there are
two importent elements in achieving great sound and feel, one
is the guitar and two is the amp - usually we starve for an old
tube amp like the Marshall (preferable 100 watt).
being a newbe to the keyboard world i wonder if a good KB amp
is also an issue to regard in your case too, if so,what would be
your all time dream rig for your virus?

Hmm. Most of the people (probably everyone) uses the Virus in studio through monitors and in live situation directly to PA through mixer. I don't have much experience on keyboard amps either so you won't get any help for your problem here.

I just checked one Finnish musician site for discussions about this subject and I found a thread which concluded that Behringer keyboard amps are quite good even they're Behringers. Try those ones out.

Well as Juho said, most people use it in the studio and stage monitoring is usually taken care of. Anyway, there's quite a lot of gear you can use to light up the sound of the Virus. Hmm.. Dream rig. Perhaps running the virus through two fender bassman '59 or vox ac30 reissues?

Amps aside, valve gear is very popular for recording, especially with digital equipment. Spl makes an affordable 2 channel valve processor called the charisma2: http://www.soundperformancelab.com/C.../in_short.html

If you have more to spare, check out the tla 5051, or 5052:

That was my idea give or take...i just get blown away thinking if a
good tube amp does what it does to a weak signal like my guitar
imagine what it would do to a powerful bass line from the virus..
ahh me and my fantasys.
BTW interesting links phyler,thanks.

Live on stage you would run your Keyboard through a DI, then to the FOH mixing desk which would send you a feed to the Monitor Mix!!!

You could try a Valve Pre-amp if you wanted!! I wouldn't bother with an Amp as its not going to be able to recreate the full range of Frequencies' Unlike a guitar which is mostly mid range a Virus is the whole sheabang...!!!

Yup. This is the most widely used setup on smaller to bigger gigs.

Good point. But that depends on what kind of sounds are played. For example an amp could be very nice for Moog leads and bass.

I think that fooling around with Virus-combo-mic system is waste of time in most cases.

Default halfstack

i use an tube amp head that was made for guitar or bass, and old MusicMan head, through an 80s marshall cab, and I use that for all synths, it sounds great because it has great bass response and the high end is warm but still can scream.
