Default "And I" Remastered version online.

EDIT: Back online with a new version.

I decided to put it back online because it's just so contrasting to anything else up there I've done.

Nice to see something a little different....

A bit more commercial appeal.....is HC mellowing out in his old age?

I would like to see a change in drum pattern, perhaps with some nice 16th hats or shakers/tamborines. Maybe even a jazzy drum n bass loop?? You know what I mean.......

Or maybe that could be for a different remix.....

Maybe female vocals? But I do like the vocal composition and arrangement.

I like this minimal kind of style......but yet again, I would like to see a pickup of pace towards the end....like maybe a slow minimal break with only pads etc...then a drum roll build and straight into a high paced D&B loop/section along with big nasty bass line......what do you reckon?

Nice one mate!

Thanks for listening Jase!

Na I'm not mellowing out, but I do change of pace tracks once in a while. Although I must say I haven't made any 180 beat DnB in a while - could be getting on a bit 8O . I have many different types of music recorded, but my experiments don't make it onto the net usually. Take a listen to "Wet Earth" on my Sound-click site for a small classical experiment.

I was thinking of doing a tempo change somewhere, but I haven't experimented alot yet. When I played around a little though, I had trouble putting it in as it took away from the mood of the track.

I would love some good vocal sources actually. If I had a choice I wouldn't use my own voice even. It's rare to find people who are willing to give it a try here. Lot's of people are happy to sing their favourite songs in karoke, but finding people who want to create new music is harder.

Thanks again for listening mate.

Maybe not even necessary to do a tempo change.....if your track is running at 80BPM....just write the loop/or sample a loop that is running at 160BPM. And I agree that it might take away from the mood, which is why you need to be carefull and find a really mellow jazzy D&B loop...lots of hats and not too in your face....really light.

I might try and find an example to show you what I mean....I think it might really take this track somewhere cool.....

OK......Im playing a wedding today!!!! And the groom thinks I am like a Mobile Disco with a crate full of commercial CD's and pop crap from the 70's, 80's, and 90's.......boy is he in for a surprise!!!!! So, I better get my act together and stop surfing the net.......

Cool song mate......Maybe we should collaborate after the remix comp.

Gotta run....

Ok. Now listening...

-Too much chorus on the vocals. Sounds like total dissonance now. Also try to add just a bit delay on the vocals.
-Maybe some of the percussion is too much on the top. Would probably work better if mixed on background with heavy short reverb.
-On this track the minimalism works pretty well.
-Probably a bigger buildup is required. For axample around 1:55 a breakbeat and a nice bassline would make this track brilliant. Now this sounds like this is still unfinished.

This track has a potential for brilliant track but this just doesnt progress at all. It's like a loop played on and on. If you'd add a heavy breakbeat with bassline + some additional buildup towards the end (naturally a huge climax on the end with a clam ending, great contrast forces to listen to the track again and again) this would be excellent track. Now it just gets stuck on a marsh of medicoreness.

Hey Juho,

Thanks for listening mate.

After resting my ears from this track, then listeing again yesterday, I tend to agree with everything you said. The drums just seem a little "bright" on the high end which may be bringing them up front. And it does need a build to something - just don't know what?!

I like the level of chorus on the vocals though. I found with-out the chorus they seemed a bit lifeless. Still though having a better vocal source other than my own would have helped with this track - anyone want let me use their voice for anything?

Anyway, thanks for listening again.

Jase, yeh I'd be happy to colab. Let me know when you are ready and we'll work something out. Also, how did the wedding go?

A bit unorganised....but it went well. I borrowed some 60's/70;s funk from a friend, burnt a couple of mix CD's to play during dinner, and for the guests arrival, and that was it! No skill involved at all, and I got asked to play another wedding....but turned it down. Not really my thing.

$150 later, and Im laughing........Now if I could only dig myself out of this crippling credit card debt I would be a happy man!

After the Sam Fox remix comp, I will work on some ideas.....I enjoy working with others, rather than by myself, I find I get inspired from other peoples ideas etc....
