Default My music

Hey Gang,

I've been observing this forum for about three years now with occasional posts here and there. I don't think I ever made a formal introduction or posted my music. Well, my name is Dan. My composing alias is Chisel. I've been playing piano since I was 6yo (I'm 35 now). I started composing electronic music on a Roland MC-303. I then moved onto the Yamaha RM1x and from there started buying different gear. My setup is not too complex. The Virus b is my only full-fledged VA Subtractive Synth. I also have a Korg EA-1 and Yamaha DX-200. I bought a MPC1000 when I started composing hip-hop tunes. Lately, I've been getting into software. I just bought Sonik Synth 2 which has become the new staple in my music. I still love programming the Virus to add that organic touch that you can't get with sampled instruments.

Here's a link to my music:

Hope you enjoy!

Peace Out \/
Dan

Hmmm.....not exactly my preferred taste of music.

I listened to the Blakebeats......The first one (Blakebeat 2) I must say I didnt like at all. The beat was quite cool, but the synth lines were mega cheese.

The 3rd Blakebeat was a HUGE improvement! Nice mellow tune.

Ok....1st blakebeat. Heaps better than the 2nd. Dark mood, but the bright, dry, electric piano kinda ruined it for me. It just didnt fit well...

I collaborated with an Internet buddy on those three songs. He added that synth line, so I can't take credit for it Most people like this one the best, probably because of the upbeat nature of the track.

Thanks. This is my personal favorite of the three.

This was the first one I wrote. It was difficult to work with that piano sound. If I did it over again, I'd probably choose a different sound.

You should listen to the other tracks. Those are the only three that are hip-hop style. The others are electronica. Maybe you'll like them better.

Thanks for the feedback!

Listening to Blakebeat2.

Not really my cup of tea either, but definietly has a few good qualities.

Like the reversed sounds that come in and lead up to other sections.

Beats aren't bad, although that kick has a slightly odd stereo space (maybe a stereo chorus or something?). The high end of the beats fit well, gating them tighter would make them fit even better. The groove is cool for sure though.

Wasn't so keen on the gneral midi-ish piano and strings, but at least they gave the listener an idea of what sort of melodies you were after.

All up a track with a heap of promise. Thanks for the listen.
