Default Juho L & Nimismies - Valtakunta

http://www.kolumbus.fi/juho.lepisto/...ntaDemotus.mp3

The second part of the Kunta trilogy. This time a little bit more serious than the first part, Ihmiskunta. This is also a first piece of a co-op project of me and Nimismies. Nimismies writes the lyrics and sings and I'll do the composing & production part + probably sing on this one.

This is a very rough demo (made in two hours). Everything is done in Kontakt. At the moment guitars and bass are sampled (although the guitars tend to sound pretty good for a sampled ones) but I'm going to get real instruments there for the final version. The vocals are still replaced with a saw lead due the fact that I can't record anything in Cubase with these KX drivers and also the lyrics are still unfinished.

The reason why I put this totally unfinished clip here is that this just came up too easily and this sounds bloody excellent. I'm getting suspicious. The melody - especially on the chorus - is annoyingly familiar, but I just can't put my finger on where I have heard it. I've played this clip for few people and everyone of them have said that it sounds familiar. So if any of you guys recognize the melody, please, let me know. At the moment I would bet my kidney that the melody is an accidental plagiarism. But if it isn't then I'll lose a kidney and congratulate myself for bloody good chorus. ?hih.

Not bad Juho. Everything goes together well (except for that lead synth line). Nice stereo image.

Drums - I like it when you do your live drummer emulations more than when you go for an electronic style. The stereo image on the drums is good. Nothing strikes me as out of place, although when there is alot going on, you should bring the snare forward a bit.

Guitar samples - Like them alot actually. They don't sound that natural, but I wouldn't swap them for natural actually. Reminds me of some of the strange prog-rock you listen too, so in that respect they fit perfect!

Keyboard - Yuck! That lead is bloody awfull. Of course that's personal taste, but I'm sure my person taste would match many other peoples. The piano goes well though, but this was one part I wanted a bit more natural.

Choir - Fits well. Creates the denseness (in densness actually a word?!) that I was hoping for when your "juho trademark" break away sections came in.

Get rid of that lead keyboard to skim off the cheese and replace it with a vocal and it would sound great.

Ramstein style vocals would sound great!

Know what I mean? Play the song and then sing some heavy ramstein german metal.....Sounds cool

Is that you programming drums? Thats some good drum programming there! Bloody realistic.....Puts me to shame

Once you have some organic sounds in there (ie real guitars and maybe drums?) then I think the song will be sounding nice.

As for the melody....yes it is familiar, but I can recall from a particular song. But familiarity is a good thing, people will be drawn to it....

I like your stuff Juho, it is funny (especially the temporary porn star synths)

I like this track. Admittedly I have only listened to it on my laptop speakers (I know, I know - the shame!) so I can only listen to the song itself and can't really comment on the production.

I like the overall sound and feel and the sampled guitars are cool. I too don't like the lead but understand that this is only temporary until the vocals are recorded.

Unfortunately I won't be able to listend to this on my DAW as I have just lost my memory stick! Gutted, it was a 1 Gig one as well. If I find it I will have a better listen.

Anyway, Good work.

Thanks for your comments. This is just a quick demo so it's not even clsoe the final quality. I'll get the guitars on thet track probably next week. Same goes for the vocals.
