Of course. I don't want to pay 800,- for a oscillator that sounds detuned saw. 800,- for detuned saw is quite much. Maybe trance people are just plain lazy to detune their saws. Or maybe they don't even know they can detune the saws on other synths. I wouldn't be suprised if that would be true. Well it's their loss.

yes but detuning alot of saws doesnt reproduce that supersaw sound accurately as it was on the jp8000. nowhere near it actually. i cant explain it. you can make supersaws the hard way in pretty much any synth. my virus b supersaws sound nothing like those on the JP. niether do my vanguard multi detuned saw patches. theres just something about the original which you just cannot recreate perfectly without a JP. spend enough time listening to the supersaw sound and you'll start to pick out the nuances and the tiny details which make it sound so rich. likewise i listened to hollowcell's alpha juno hoover demo and by god that synth has some bottom end on it. that hoover rips like nothing i can recreate on any synth ive got. sure i can make hoovers on the virus, in vanguard, in hydra, in pretty much anything really. but it never quite has that oomph that the juno does when it punches em out.
also, alot of the people on the tranceaddict forums (as well as others) are well aware that you can detune saws in other synths. in fact, ive seen many (amateur and professional alike) attempt to recreate that supersaw sound in a bucket load of synths, including maelstrom and pro 53. usually by creating a stack of 6 to 9 instances with varying amounts of detune on each saw.
never ever sounds as pure as the real thing. NEVER.
