Chris Liberator does it for me, he plays acid techno, fucking top dj.
And a couple fo local guys from Christchurch, King Al who plays house and is absolutely incredible. If he wasn't so fucking lazy he'd be playing all over the world. And another guy who plays under the name Subvert, he plays psy-trance and his mixing in that genre is as close to perfect as I have heard, only problem is he doesn't like playing out much, but when he does it is a real treat.

I saw a live act a few years ago it was "Punk Floyd" consisting of DDR, GEEZER and Chris Liberator...It was crazy as well

Wow, you guys are easily impressed by DJs aren't you?
Most of the names you mention I would consider average at best.
Scratch all the commercial successes off the list for a start, I haven't yet heard one that can mix as good as the locals around here. Unfortunately in the DJ business, mixing talent and success have zero correlation.
I heard a Carl Cox cd the other day and couldn't believe it! They call this guy the best dj in the world? Not only was the music complete shite, but it wasn't even mixed. Just studio mixed. Fuckin cheats

Gopal: Totally agree with you there
It's funny here in Montreal, most of the time when a headliner comes to smaller underground parties(under 2000 ppl) people are disapointed by the performance and are having more of a blast with the locals. Some locals tend to push it much harder than some established big names(ie: mixing with 3 turntables, adding a sampler to the equation, scratching/phrasing and so on).

Gopal and Mad:
Check out Z-trip. This guy can mix any to records and make them sound good. Definitely one of the best.

Carl Cox is a very very good dj, I don't like his current music but FACT 1 is one of the best trance mix cds ever produced.
I believe it is a live mix rather than studio/pro-tools mix which most seem to be these days.
That and seeing him play live on three decks was covincing enough for me.
But in general I agree, local djs can be just as talented, if not more so.

Yep , search for some of his live sets that are available on the net. Check out his Global Session`s radio shows.

TommyS: Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Dave Clarke and Cari Lekebusch are coming to Switzerland in August. Can't believe it, I'm not here.
