But seriously, have you ever witnessed anything like this, at a friends place or heard anyone claim this type of issue?

yes, this question is serious and if you make fun out of it, please tell me at least why it's such a stupid thought that outputs may hiss...

its not stupid since it can happen dou to time, faulty manufacturing and few other reasons.
they should have used nuetrik...
did you contact access about this? im sure its not a big issue to repair if it is a hardware problem.
to make sure its not a software thingy ,choose an INIT patch then
turn the outputs to optimale level and patch volume aswell.
and run a sine wave. do you still hear hiss?

It is definitely the reverb engine producing this hiss.
It has decreased after the 1.1.1 update, but is still noticable when using the onboard EQ to harden the sounds to my liking.
I don't suffer from this problem in my KC, even if the reverb quality here is not as good as the one in the TI!

It isn't stupid, and it wasn't inferred otherwise, so put your handbag away.
It simply meant I already shared all I knew, but after that I was racking my brains thinking of other causes, so the latter message was a cheap shot at the TI DSP coding as the next most possible source of the problem along with a healthy dose of irony. The issue needs to be corrected.
Is the issue USB or audio (using normal 1/4" jacks/cables) related? If the former, it's most likely a dodgy coding issue. If it's the latter, which soundcard are you using?, are you using balanced TRS cables?, are you hooking up the TI to a laptop?, and do you have any ground loops?
Does the hissing affect both USB AND standard audio-jack outputs?

it was on the analogue outs only, but pretty subtle... since I had to send my virus back anyways to repair the crappy knobs, I mentionned the hissing so they will fix it probably. I'm still not sure though whether it's hiss, but I didn't notice it on the USB outs...

What soundcard (or are you hooking it up directly to the monitors)? Are you using balanced TRS cables? What is your signal flow? ie. What pieces of kit are you routing it through, and is your gain structure set up correctly?

into an EMU 1820m using balanced cables, from the 1820m directly to the monitors...

How about if you bypass both the computer and soundcard and instead hook up the TI directly to the monitors using TRS balanced cables?
Use the same mains socket (using a trailing lead or adapter) for both synth and monitors in this case.
Just trying to narrow down other possible external causes first.

Im sure one of the distortion effects creates a small amount of noise in the background

In my case it got nothing to do with the output/ interference of any sort nor that distortion effect you're pointing at, but in all isolation, the reverb engine as a whole!
The quality of the reverb engine is obviously not yet sharp enough, simple as that.
When you have been working as a producer for a while you tend to notice artefacts messing with your meticulously adjusted reverb setting for a particular sound in a mix. The Virus TI ain't that new to me anymore, it has soon been 1 year with experimenting and fine tuning.
The intention of my question here was to see if anyone had come across this issue, but I guess by know noone really have as to continuous derailing answers!
Thanks for answering though.
